25th anniversary

In 2023-2024, Relais Famille celebrates its 25th anniversary!

Greeting cards

Relais Famille has set up a "Greeting Cards" project, which has now become a tradition. The goal is to help incarcerated people get through the holiday season a little more peacefully by showing them that people are thinking of them with kindness.

Project History

2019 200 cards were made by members of Relais Famille. These cards were distributed to inmates at the CFF facility. Also, 4 cards were sent to 4 inmates at the Port Cartier facility. We would like to thank Chantal Lusignan of the Jean-Paul Morin Corporation and the CFF chaplains as well as the Port Cartier internal programs manager for coordinating the distribution of these cards.

2020 In 2020, 1,274 cards were sent by Relais Famille members. These cards were distributed in 7 federal institutions across the province of Quebec. A special thank you to Chantal Lusignan for coordinating this project.

2021 In 2021, 2,750 cards were written and delivered to federal penitentiaries. A huge thank you to our members and to all the people and organizations who responded to this tradition. These greeting cards have a real impact on the incarcerated people who receive them.

2022 Thanks to the dedication and generosity of our members, partners, volunteers and the Relais Famille team, 2,804 greeting cards were made. We have successfully completed a great challenge: offering a card to every inmate serving a federal sentence in Quebec.

Future!

Father and Son

My dad, a story

A parenting skills program that promotes the strengthening of family ties, this project was made possible thanks to the partnership concluded in March 2019 between Relais Famille, which finances the project, and the John Howard Society of Quebec, which coordinates it.

This activity offers incarcerated men the opportunity to read a story to their child or any other child with whom they have a real and serious bond. This is an activity where a team of volunteers meets with the inmates and offers them to choose a book from a selection, then reads it and records it in mp3 format. The team of volunteers is responsible for preparing and sending a gift package that contains an mp3 player with the voice of the participant reading the story, accompanied by the book that was read. This activity helps maintain a bond between the participant and the child in a context of learning and initiation to reading.
