Relais Famille supports individuals in their experiences related to the legal proceedings of their loved ones in Quebec. Relais Famille addresses their needs by providing resources and tools. It is also a safe and non-judgmental space where people are heard and where social activities are offered. Finally, it works to raise awareness within civil society and promote the rights of relatives of those involved in the justice system .

Our story
Relais Famille was born from a profoundly human observation.
Hélène Bournival and Claude Lefebvre , respectively a pastoral worker and a priest at the Montreal Prevention Centre, were regularly confronted with the harsh reality faced by the families of incarcerated individuals . These families expressed a great need to talk, to be heard, supported, and informed , but without having any resources to turn to.
It was to address this need that Hélène Bournival and Claude Lefebvre founded the organization that would become Relais Famille. Surrounded by dedicated volunteers, the organization officially opened its doors on October 5, 1998 .
Today, Relais Famille is the only community organization in Quebec dedicated exclusively to supporting the families and loved ones of people awaiting detention, incarcerated or in the process of release following imprisonment.
SOLIDARITY
To be a supportive community that helps each other in the experience of the legal proceedings involving loved ones, by promoting the rights of members and working in collaboration with all relevant sectors and stakeholders.
WELCOME
To be a welcoming space for information, exchange and listening, which accompanies and supports its members with a caring and empathetic approach.
NON-JUDGMENT
To be reassuring , secure and inclusive , by ensuring confidentiality and respect for the diversity of members and their needs.
Each member of our team puts their expertise and heart into serving families, in a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment.
The members of our board of directors dedicate their time on a voluntary basis to the cause of Relais Famille.
